Assistant Instructor  – Norfolk Opportunities Centre (NOC)

Are you passionate about helping autistic adults and those with learning disabilities achieve their desired potential? Autism Anglia, a well-established independent charity, is looking for an Assistant Instructor to join our dedicated team at our Norfolk Day Centre in Dereham, Norfolk.

Our Assistant Instructors support individuals with life skills appropriate to their needs in a one to one or small group environment. Helping individuals with the unique challenges that they face to achieve their goals so that they can live more independently.

NOC promotes and supports individual's wellbeing, goals and aspirations in everyday community life.

Salary

£22,721.31 per annum (£12.45 per hour)

Hours

Full-time: 35 hours per week

About the role

  • Assist instructors with the daily delivery of activities and curriculum under the guidance of the Norfolk Opportunities Centre team.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of the people we support and staff at all times.
  • Provide daily support to individuals, including individuals who may experience behaviours that challenge.
  • Support people we support with personal care, health, hygiene, and the development of daily living skills.
  • Assist in a range of structured activities across departments such as Life Skills, IT, Art, Horticulture, PE, and sensory programmes.
  • Support the safe receipt, storage, administration, and record keeping of medication.
  • Promote the holistic development of individuals, ensuring equal opportunities and supporting personal or group project plans.
  • Maintain positive relationships with staff, families, and external agencies, including attending meetings, briefings, and supporting community engagement.
  • Follow Safeguarding procedures and act promptly on any concerns.

 

What we’re looking for

We welcome applications from individuals who:

• A Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults), or willingness to work towards one.
 • Experience supporting people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or learning disabilities (desirable).
 • Motivation and a willingness to learn.
 • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage tasks effectively.
 • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
 • A full driving licence.
